Our Philosophy

We empower our children to navigate their own pathways into future learning successes by providing an environment where;

• children feel secure, comfortable and supported to explore;

• where children are encouraged to express their own ideas, feelings and theories in different ways;

• where children are given time and space to investigate and develop working theories of the world around them.

We acknowledge the ‘environment’ as the third teacher which should be prepared beautifully, meaningfully and purposely based on the children’s interests and needs. The resources we used in the environment are natural, open-ended and multiple which inspire wonder, creativity and imagination of children.

We view each child as an individual, competent, confident, and potential learner.

The learning experiences we provided are meaningful, fun, and challenging for the children. We also recognise children are born with independence and freedom. We actively support children’s development of self-esteem, confidence and independence.

Our aim is to build and maintain meaningful, respectful and trusting relationships with all the families/whanau. We are committed to support the children to develop a strong sense of identity and belonging, foster them to discover their sense of self within the group and the wider community.

We recognize the importance of the dual heritage of Aoteaora and we respect the Treaty of Waitangi. The biculturalism and multiculturalism are embraced and celebrated at Dream Catchers Preschool
